"Christmas In Historic Homer"

The Eighth Annual Christmas Festival will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 9 on the Claiborne Parish Courthouse Square in Historic Homer.
Craft and food booths will open at 10:30 AM. All day entertainment will begin at 11 AM. Among the many items featured in the craft booths will be ceramic angels, quilts, Native American items, jewelry, leather crafts, airbrush, sand art and more. Food booths will include alligator, shrimp, candied apples, hot cider, ribeye sandwiches, barbecue, and more.
The 2000 Christmas Festival Entertainment will begin at 11:00 AM.
The Parade begins at 4 PM and will travel down North Main from Homer High School to the Courthouse Square. Annual Christmas Parade Set For Saturday, Dec. 9. Anyone interested in participating should call Delores Leggett at 927-9675 or 927-3360 after 5 PM.
Faith Jenkins, Miss Louisiana 2000 and 1st Runner Up to Miss America 2001, will be the Grand Marshal for the parade. Featured in this year's parade will be the Grambling University Marching Band, the Starlettes Twirling Group of Ruston, Smokey the Bear, the 1920 Coca-Cola Truck, Miss Juneteenth, Officer Ollie and Puppet Friends, Santa Claus and a host of others.
Following the parade, winners will be announced for the business lighting and parade floats. The Community Church Choir will then perform, followed by Dump Hatter and the "Bold Witnesses" of Minden.
For history buffs, you can learn the history of Claiborne Parish and much of Northwest Louisiana by visiting the Herbert S. Ford Museum.
For the kids, there will be pony rides in front of city hall and the "Screaming Beaming". Following the parade, kids can visit with Santa Claus and have their picture made at the Courthouse.
Radio Stations KRMD will be in Homer from 8-10 AM and KMJJ from 4-6 PM, giving away T-shirts and caps. Everyone is invited to come spend the day, bring a lawn chair and enjoy the festivities.
