Lee's supervisory position requires capabilities to maintain crews to meet the needs according to department, to make inspections of all street and drainage for the Town, to maintain the grounds and operation at the Municipal Airport, oversee Town's park and recreation facilities. His ability to adapt to the usage of technology is a result of advanced Road Scholar Courses.

Derrick's years of experience with reading and maintaining of the meters for the Town of Homer. He works hand in hand with the supervisor and business office to achieve a productive level of efficiency.

Dutchtown Water Well
We are pleased to announce the rehabilitation process of the Dutchtown Water Well. This project is funded by a grant (approximately $120,000) received through the Governor's Office of Community Development.
The construction contract was awarded to Layne Christensen Company of Cleveland, MS. The rehabilitation project is expected to be completed within (45) calendar days and will include:
A closed circuit TV survey on well
Installation of New Riser Piping
New Well Screen Gravel Packing
New Submersible Pump and Motor
Redevelop, Sterilize and Test Rehabilitated Water Well
Modification to existing Electrical and Control System
Street Repaired
At Least Nine Homer Streets was reconstructed as part of a $400,000 grant project that took place during December. Those nine streets were Hill, Wiley, Anna, Fulmer, Lodge, Scott, South 4th, West 3rd, and Nunley. Balar Associates inspector Jerry Hay; Ron Ingles, operator for Benton & Brown; Former Public Works Director Calvin Wortham; and Tommy Wren, Benton & Brown Foreman hopes to add other streets that require much needed repair such as Edgewood, East College, and West 4th Street.
Maintenance Completed on Mayfield Water Treatment Plant
Homer Public Works performed maintenance on the High Pressure Filter at the Mayfield Water Treatment Plant on Thursday December 12, with assistance from Balar Engineers. Over the past 18 months, treated water pumped into the distribution system had dropped to 200 gallons per minute at 92 psi.
After maintenance, 650 gpm was recorded.

As members of the 2003 American Public Works Association, our goal is to be involved with public affairs and the discussion of public works and infrastructure issues are a primary part of the mission of APWA, education--in its broadest terms--shares to billing with the association's priorities. APWA conducts a series of local, state, and regional workshops each year on timely topics in both the management and technical areas of public works, and supplements an extensive educational program by our chapters, which sponsor hundreds of educational sessions each year. APWA has established formal partnerships with the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and 3M Corporation.
