It was a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of the city-life.
One thing that did stand out to me though is that despite the sure signs of progress (And I do love what I see), it is an atrocity to see damaged property -- specifically those visible from the main highway. It left me with a sense of doom, depression and all the darkness that encompasses those feelings.
It does not take a fortune to form a clean-up oversight committee to aid in this unjustice to good, historic soil.

I'm so glad that Technology has reached this small but blessed town. I grow up in Haynesville from 1976-1988 and was blessed to have been taught such great moral and human values from this small town environment.
I now reside in Frederick Maryland for over 12 years. I'm 45 miles from both Baltimore Maryland and Washington DC. And I come home to the "VILLE" often just to remember where I came from and how you should enjoy life. Living on the east coast has been a shock. Most East coasters don't understand the slow pace of enjoying life. Everyone is so rushed and sometimes rude... I have to stop myself and remember seeing on lady on Zion Street everyday and she spoke to me everyday, never missing a beat... I truly miss that southern way of life. I'll never forget Haynesville... NEVER...
ANY 1986 Classmates out there? Our 20 year reunion is coming up and I pray something is being planned.

I went to Haynesville Schools thru the midterm of the 12th when I moved to Shreveport and went to Byrd.
I joined the Army and spent 22 years there - retiring in June 1976. Then became a member of the Cochise County's Sheriff's Office where I eventually became the Chief of Detective and specialized in Homicide Investigations and also Crimes against people, i.e., Child Assaults-molestation-rape, and other violent crimes against the person.
I retired from the Sheriff's Department in October 1993.

I'm glad to see the town motto has changed to "Gateway to North Louisiana". I always thought the "Sportsman's Paradise Ends Here" sign at the town limits on Highway 79 was a bit creepy.
