The
Claiborne Senior Center Is a parish-wide dedicated facility for older persons offering recreation, education, meals, health sessions, meeting and support group space. Contacts are made with clients to determine the effectiveness of a service and to gauge the client's satisfaction. Transportation Is available for elderly persons who need rides to appointments, food stamp office, shopping, meal sites, banks, doctor's offices, and other life supporting services.
Scheduled telephoning to clients
is performed to provide comfort and support. Household tasks are performed by workers for elderly persons confined to their home and are unable to maintain themselves with out this assistance. Assistance is offered to clients in purchasing or acquiring food, clothing, prescriptions, needed items, paying of bills, etc.
Individual professional legal counseling Is available from a local attorney on non-fee generating cases. Group education is provided on legal matters of interest to the elderly persons.
Congregate meals are served to enrolled elderly at the Homer meal site at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Hot noon-time meals are delivered five days per week to elderly homebound persons who meet criteria for services.
Opportunities are provided to acquire knowledge and skills according to the interests of the elderly persons. Activities for groups and individuals are available for arts, crafts, hobbies, field trips, games, and exercise.
