The Claiborne Senior Center Is a parish-wide dedicated facility for older persons offering recreation, education, meals, health sessions, meeting and support group space. It serves as the general base for the Area Agency on Aging and offices for the Claiborne Council on Aging.

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and coordinated community based system of services for the elderly of Claiborne Parish. We believe in the right of the elderly to live a life of dignity and independence in their own homes.

Claiborne COA FacilityThe Claiborne Senior Center Is a parish-wide dedicated facility for older persons offering recreation, education, meals, health sessions, meeting and support group space.

Contacts are made with clients to determine the effectiveness of a service and to gauge the client's satisfaction. Transportation Is available for elderly persons who need rides to appointments, food stamp office, shopping, meal sites, banks, doctor's offices, and other life supporting services.

Scheduled telephoning to clients COA Clientis performed to provide comfort and support. Household tasks are performed by workers for elderly persons confined to their home and are unable to maintain themselves with out this assistance. Assistance is offered to clients in purchasing or acquiring food, clothing, prescriptions, needed items, paying of bills, etc.

Individual professional legal counseling Is available from a local attorney on non-fee generating cases. Group education is provided on legal matters of interest to the elderly persons.

FellowshipCongregate meals are served to enrolled elderly at the Homer meal site at 11:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. Hot noon-time meals are delivered five days per week to elderly homebound persons who meet criteria for services.

Opportunities are provided to acquire knowledge and skills according to the interests of the elderly persons. Activities for groups and individuals are available for arts, crafts, hobbies, field trips, games, and exercise.

Claiborne Council on Aging provides homemakers for elderly
Claiborne Council on Aging provides a Homemaker and housekeeping tasks are available for elderly persons confined to their homes and unable to maintain themselves without this assistance.
 
Council on Aging provides trained ombudsmen for nursing home residents
Ombudsmen are trained to respond to the problems and needs of nursing home residents. They work with not only the residents but their families. They concentrate on ways to solve resident’s concerns and problems. Residents or family members who have questions or complaints may contact Pat Culbertson at 800-256-3003.
 
Smoke Detectors For The Elderly Offered through TRIAD
TRIAD of Claiborne wants all seniors age 65 and above, to have a smoke detector. You may also qualify if you're disabled. Having a smoke detector can mean the difference of life or death. Smoke detectors are available without charge. If you don't have a smoke detector, call 927-2011.
